Equipped to excel

Have you ever been in a situation where you felt like you were doomed to fail?

I’ll give you an example.

Maybe you’re under the gun to make a big decision but you don’t have all the information you need.

It’s a bad feeling, right?

But what’s even worse than feeling like you’re doomed to fail?

Feeling like you’re doomed to fail because someone else dropped the ball.

You know…you’re going on a big sales call with a partner and he shows up late, or worse…he stands you up completely.

That’s a terrible feeling.

It’s the feeling of wanting to grab the wheel…to take control…to lash out in anger…maybe even to walk off the team.

But here’s good news…because I’m all about good news. I’m all about turning tough spots and tight situations into triumph.

The good news is those “doomed to fail” situations…they’re completely avoidable.

Would you believe that wiping out “doomed to fail” in your life can start with a mindset change?

It’s true.

I’m going to tell you how.

I believe that almost 100% of our “doomed to fail” problems occur because we’re simply not thinking about what other people need in order to be successful at what they do.

Think about that for a minute.

During the times when you’ve felt like you couldn’t win, if someone had just thought about you…and what you need to be successful…would you have ended up in that spot?

Probably not!

Think about Peyton Manning for a minute.

There’s no debate that Peyton Manning is one of the greatest NFL quarterbacks to ever play the game.

In fact, he’s thrown more touchdown passes than any quarterback in NFL history.

That’s really saying something! That’s success!

But let me tell you something about every single one of those touchdown passes.

On every single play, the ball had to be snapped to Peyton perfectly by the guy playing center on the offensive line.

If the guy playing center screws up the snap, the play falls apart and there’s no touchdown.

So let’s think about this: Peyton Manning has thrown more touchdown passes than anyone in history because there’s always someone else on his team willing to equip him to excel.

I’ll say that again. He’s equipped to excel.

That, friends, is the mindset change that wipes out “doomed to fail” situations.

No matter what you do, when you see your role as equipping the people around you to excel, you’ll begin to see transformation.

What kind of transformation can you expect?

No matter how much they trust you already, the people around you will trust you more.

No matter how loyal they feel, the people around you will feel more loyal.

No matter how much they already seek your input, the people around you will seek your input more.

And then things get really interesting. Want to know what happens next?

When you’re a person who equips other people to excel – in your personal life or in business – people will want to do the same for you.

That’s worth repeating.

When you equip other people to excel, they’ll do the same for you.

It’s really that simple.

If you want to start creating enormous value for the people around you…I’d invite you to make this one mindset change:

Equip the people around you to excel.
